International Moon Day Celebration Period Extended to End of October

We are thrilled to announce that we have officially extended the eligibility period for proposing and hosting an International Moon Day Global Event to October 31st!

The Moon Village Association first proposed the establishment of International Moon Day to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space in 2021. Since then it has grown into a truly global celebration of lunar exploration and discovery.

Alongside our main event, we  have always invited individuals and organizations around the world to host their own celebrations—and the response has been nothing short of extraordinary. This year alone over 40 global events will take place across six continents, showcasing the universal fascination with the Moon.

Our main flagship main event will always take place on July 20, marking the anniversary of humanity first stepping foot on the Moon in 1969. However, to give even more people and communities the opportunity to participate, we’re extending the eligibility period to host a community event through to the end of October.

Whether you’re planning a scientific lecture, a cultural exhibition, or a classroom activity, there’s still time to educate, inspire and promote awareness of the past, present, and future of lunar exploration.
