[India] Lunarothon 2022 & Lunar Master Class

SSERD along with Genex Space is happy to host events on the occasion of the International Moon Day.

Lunarothon 2022

Society for Space Education, Research and Development (SSERD), in association with Genex Space (https://genex.space) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), is proud to present “Lunarothon 2022”, a research hackathon. The event is aimed at undergraduate and above students from all fields of study on a global level. This event would be week-long from 17th July to 23rd July. For this research hackathon, the data to be used would be from India’s Space Organization, ISRO’s Chandrayaan-II (CH-2) mission. The CH-2 mission hosted 9 instruments, the data for which is available, in the ISRO Science Data Archive (ISDA), here.

Note: This hackathon requires knowledge of data analysis and python programming. Knowledge of Linux OS is beneficial. If you do not possess these skills yet, we shall be providing you with an instruction manual to guide you through when the hackathon starts. However, it is advisable to gain basic knowledge of the aforementioned topics before the hackathon begins.


  • 17/07/2022: Panel discussions about CH-2 data-type of data, how to access it, what science
  • can be done!
  • 18/07/2022-22/07/2022: Hackathon
  • 22/07/2022, 6 pm: Synopsis Submission of the research.
  • 23/07/2022: Selected participants can present their research.

The panel will consist of:

  1. Sreenatha Ratnhnakumar, Scientist/Engineer, Indian Space Science Data Center,
    ISTRAC/ISRO Bangalore.
  2. Dr. Shyama Narendranath, Scientist, Department of Space, U R Rao Satellite Center,
  3. Mr. Yoav Landsman, Space Entrepreneur, CEO and founder of Moonscape.

On account of International Moon Day, Society for Space Education, Research and Development (SSERD), with support of Genex Space (https://genex.space) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), is proud to present ‘The Lunar Masterclass’ for school students. 

Join us and explore our Moon with our mentors! It is free for all the students.
