SUMMARY:The Human Eye on the Moon: Risks and Countermeasures
DESCRIPTION:Space ophtalmology will be discussed by an ophthalmologist with experience in human space physiology. Risks related to the alterations of the eye in space will be presented\, with special attention to the effects of microgravity\, hypogravity and radiation. Current and future countermeasures regarding how these effects can be attenuated or even elminated are also a focus of the presentation and discussion.

Building upon the success of this inaugural event\, we propose the second edition of the Italian MVA Space Summer School\, scheduled for July 2024\, coinciding with the celebration of International Moon Day 2024. \n\n\n\nContinuation of Organizing Committee and Expansion\n\n\n\nThis edition will be characterized by the same organizing committee. However\, in a bid to enhance accessibility and participation\, we plan to expand the in-person component of the school to other Italian cities such as Turin\, Milan\, Naples\, and beyond. This expansion aims to engage a broader audience and foster greater collaboration across regions. \n\n\n\nObjective and Background\n\n\n\nThe primary objective of the MVA Space Summer School is to foster collaboration among stakeholders including governments\, industry\, academia\, and the public interested in lunar exploration. As an annual event coinciding with International Moon Day\, the school serves as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable Moon exploration and utilization. \n\n\n\nHighlights from the First Edition\n\n\n\nThe inaugural Italian MVA Space Summer School witnessed significant engagement\, with over 70 participants from diverse backgrounds. A hybrid format allowed for both in-person and virtual participation\, showcasing the event’s accessibility and global reach. Participants represented over 10 different countries across Europe\, Asia\, America\, and Africa\, illustrating the international character of the school. \n\n\n\nMore info on Italian MVA Space Summer School \n\n\n\nExpansion and Inclusivity\n\n\n\nExpanding the in-person component to additional Italian cities aims to further enhance inclusivity and accessibility. By offering multiple locations\, we aim to accommodate participants from various regions and backgrounds\, fostering a more diverse and vibrant learning environment. \n\n\n\nInterdisciplinary Approach\n\n\n\nThe MVA Space Summer School embodies a high level of interdisciplinarity\, covering a wide range of subjects relevant to space exploration. From economics and governance to science and technology\, the program provides participants with a holistic understanding of the challenges and opportunities in space exploration. \n\n\n\nIn conclusion\, the second edition of the Italian MVA Space Summer School in July 2024 promises to build upon the success of its predecessor. By expanding the in-person component to additional Italian cities\, maintaining a high level of interdisciplinarity\, and incorporating feedback from participants\, we aim to create a dynamic and inclusive learning experience that fosters collaboration and innovation in lunar exploration.

SUMMARY:United Moon Forum - United Kingdom
DESCRIPTION:Humans are already multi-continental\, now it’s time to expand our boundaries to other celestial bodies. After all\, we are born to explore! Additionally\, for benefits from collaborative and peaceful exploration and sustainability reasons\, we must expand beyond Earth. Moon is going to be our 1st bold step in this endless venture. \n\n\n\nInternational Moon Day i.e. 20 July marks the anniversary of the 1st Human landing on the lunar surface as a part of the Apollo 11 lunar mission back in the year 1969. This year we celebrate its 54th Anniversary as a part of the 2nd International Moon Day proposed by the Moon Village Association and officially approved by the UN General Assembly on 9th December 2021. The Human landing on the Moon has\, is\, and will continue to inspire generations to expand beyond our conventional boundaries. \n\n\n\nToday around half a century after the 1st moon landing\, many Space stakeholders (public and private alike) can send missions to the moon. To celebrate our New Lunar Journey\, LIFE-To & Beyond and SpaceCrew\, InnovaSpace jointly is organizing the “United Moon Forum” to celebrate the occasion on the 20th of July 2023 (Timing: 13:30- 15:45 GMT or 19:00- 21:15 IST).  \n\n\n\nThe purpose of the outreach event is to give a glance at the Past\, Present\, and Future of Lunar exploration. This will help spread the word amongst the people about the activities in the space sector about Lunar exploration globally. Alongside\, it will be instrumental in fostering discussion regarding the collaborative and peaceful exploration of our Moon as a common heritage of all of Humankind. \n\n\n\nThe event format includes a Series of lightning talks\, and a panel discussion hosted Online (on the Microsoft Teams Platform and also stream LIVE on the Life To and Beyond Youtube Channel) and Open to global participation. It’s a short yet significant step towards proactive and impactful outreach. We are optimistic about ‘inspiring the new generation to take up the baton of Human exploration from Earth to the Moon\, Mars\, and Beyond!’ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFor more: https://www.lifetoandbeyond.org/united-moon-forum \n\n\n\nUnited_Moon_Forum_Brochure-1_compressedDownload
