SUMMARY:[Türkiye] FOR ME (Future opportunities right to Moon exploration)
DESCRIPTION:July 15-17 & 20\n\n\n\nFOR ME consists of an event where we will cover the potential opportunities of lunar exploration  with the motto of “equality and sustainability in coordination” in line with the “Lunar Exploration  Coordination and Sustainability” theme determined for the International Lunar Day.  \n\n\n\n– Equality in Coordination : Emphasis is placed on the importance of human equality in the space  age\, from disadvantaged groups in society to countries that have not completed their development  in the international community. Suggestions are made to increase participation and interest in this  subject.  \n\n\n\n– Sustainability : Emphasis is placed on the necessity of sustaining the paths pursued in  space – and especially lunar – activities. If sustainable work can be achieved in lunar studies\, it will  be tried to facilitate the discoveries that can be made farther. Sustainable development is also  emphasized while evaluating the opportunities that can be offered by the exploration and mining on  the moon regarding the earth and lunar life.  \n\n\n\nSeminars\n\n\n\nIn the first part\, a series of conferences will be held in line with the adopted principles and slogans\, and speakers will be invited in the following areas:  \n\n\n\n– A webinar with a speaker on “Metaverse” through Metaverse and its law\, platforms\, opportunities\, and the future  expectations on July 51\,  \n\n\n\n– An interview with a speaker on “Astrophotography” through Moon photos\, equipment decision\, difficulties\, consequences\, and the harmful effects of satellite constellations on space observation and  astrophotography in the campsite on the evening of July 16\,  \n\n\n\n– An interview with a speaker on “Camping” through how to camp\, equipment decision\, camping routes and camp  security in the campsite on the evening of July 16.  \n\n\n\n1 We believe it is important to host the Metaverse webinar\, as the space photos from the camp will be published in a  Metaverse exhibition. \n\n\n\nASOR Lunar Camp 2022\n\n\n\nAfter that\, we will organize a space camp. One of the projects we plan to carry out as Altair  Association is ASOR: Altair Space Observation and Research Projects. And activities such as  observation and astrophotography will already be carried out within the scope of this project. Again\,  as Altair\, we attach great importance to raising awareness about International Moon Day and space  activities. For this reason\, it will make us very happy to dedicate one of our events to the International  Moon Day as part of ASOR.  \n\n\n\nOur camp day will start on the morning of July 16 and end on July 17. There will be social activities\,  nature walks\, games and competitions throughout the camp\, as well as a conversation with our  special guests by the fire on the evening of July 16. Space and moon observations will be made  from the time of the moonrise\, and space photographs will be taken that include the Moon in its  composition.  \n\n\n\nDuring the “ASOR Lunar Camp 2022 – 1st Moon Day Special” event\, both space observations and  Moon photographs will be taken. The importance of the Moon for the Earth will be explained with  the emphasis on sustainability and equality through guest trainers.  \n\n\n\nAnd the photos to be taken at the event can be exhibited both in the physical and metaverse  environment and sold as NFT. The photographs can be exhibited at the entrance of the FOR ME  event hall when the FOR ME project presented to MVA by the Altair Association is realized.  \n\n\n\nThis event will contribute to space observation activities\, which are not organized much in our  country\, and will facilitate learning about the International Moon Day\, which has never been heard  of in our country\, by exhibiting the Moon photographs to be taken in various environments. And if  we succeed in attracting participants from disadvantaged groups\, we will also place a very important  emphasis on equality in space studies.  \n\n\n\nIMD Special Webinar on Space Law – Opening Ceremony of Metaverse Exhibition \n\n\n\nWhen we look at the final\, the most special day\, a webinar consisting of three speakers will be waiting  for us on July 20\, the International Moon Day. In this webinar\, there will be:  \n\n\n\n– 1 speaker on “Moon in Space Law and Politics (or Lunar Law and Politics)” – 1 speaker on “Militarizing Lunar Surface: Geopolitics and International Law in New Space Era”– 1 speaker on “The Habitatization of the Moon and Sustainability” \n\n\n\nAfter these webinars are over\, the Metaverse exhibition and the physical exhibition will be opened  as the closing event\, and the photographs taken at the camp will be included in our NFT collection  with the signatures of the photographers.  \n\n\n\nThe target audience of this event is everyone aged 12 and over who is interested in space\, especially  young professionals.  \n\n\n\nSince astrophotography\, space law\, and space studies do not receive enough attention in our  country\, this event is important to increase the interest in these fields and raise awareness. On this  occasion\, the introduction of the International Moon Day will also be possiblei.  \n\n\n\n\nALTAIR – website\n\n\n\n\nRead the report\n\n\n\nPost-Event-Report-of-FOR-MEDownload

SUMMARY:[Philippines] Lunar Exploration: Expectations & Reality
DESCRIPTION:July 17\, Online\n\n\n\nDetails: \n\n\n\n17 July 2022\, 19:00 PST (UTC+8) Online lecture\, and panel discussion Open to the public via Facebook live Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes – 2 hours  \n\n\n\n\nManilla Street Astronomers Facebook Page\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe MSA will be conducting a lecture and panel discussion on the evening of July 17\, to discuss the significance of returning to the Moon\, and the current efforts relating to this such as the Artemis missions. The lecture will be conducted by MSA Founder – Gary Andreassen. Joining him in the panel discussion are representatives from the space sector in the Philippines. \n\n\n\nThe targeted panel are representatives from the following:  \n\n\n\n\nSpace Generation Advisory Council (confirmed) \n\n\n\nStudents for the Exploration and Development of Space – Philippines (TBA) \n\n\n\nMoon Village Association (TBA) \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis events focus will on why it is necessary to explore and return to the Moon\, especially given that many individuals continue to point to the problems on Earth when discussing space exploration. Concerns by the public regarding its relevance can be addressed by properly communicating the necessity for continued exploration and study\, as well as the benefits from doing so. The current efforts as well as the direct and indirect benefits should also be communicated to increase awareness and understanding. In accordance to the 2022 theme Lunar Exploration Coordination and Sustainability\, the panel discussion brings together members of the space community in the Philippines. This will also help promote their respective organizations\, as well as provide an avenue for the exchange of ideas and concerns from their perspective as members of the space community. The panelist tapped are also from the youth and young adult demographic in order to inspire the next generation of space leaders in the country. The Philippines\, having only established a space agency in the recent years\, is fairly young and therefore would benefit from the growth of young professionals in the related STEM areas. Future involvement of Filipinos in efforts for lunar exploration can also offer political prestige\, and economic stimulus\, while contributing to the pursuit of scientific goals. \n\n\n\nWatch the recording\n\n\n\n\nRecording on facebook

SUMMARY:[USA] Chesley Bonestell and the Moon
DESCRIPTION:“A Lunar Landscape” (1957) painted by Chesley Bonestell\n\n\n\nJuly 17\, Online\n\n\n\nChesley Bonestell (1888-1986) is the man who got us to the Moon\, not with technology but with a paintbrush!  His amazing paintings and extraordinary life are chronicled in the award-winning documentary film: Chesley Bonestell: A Brush With The Future. \n\n\n\nFIRST:  Watch the Trailer here: https://www.chesleybonestell.com/trailer.html \n\n\n\nNEXT: Stream the documentary (there may be a nominal charge):  \n\n\n\nhttps://www.chesleybonestell.com/streaming-vod.html \n\n\n\nTHEN:  Join a special International Moon Day webinar discussion about the film with Producer/Writer/Director Douglass M. Stewart\, Jr. and Co-Producer Ron Miller.   \n\n\n\nThis event will happen on Zoom on July 17\, 2022. Time 1:00 PM PDT / 4:00PM EDT  \n\n\n\nZoom registration link:https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_bXxO3rdcRBWRvq94Vacwuw \n\n\n\nYoutube stream: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Chesley Bonestell photographed by Robert E. David\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Film\n\n\n\nThe classic space artist\, Chesley Bonestell\, born in San Francisco in 1888\, had a special relationship with the Moon. It was the subject of some of his first published space art back in the 1940s and continued to figure in his art until his death in 1986. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn addition to scores of paintings for nationally published magazines such as Life\, Bonestell contributed to books such as  The Conquest of Space\, Man and the Moon\, Rocket to the Moon\, Across The Space Frontier  and Conquest of the Moon. The latter was a spin-off of a series of articles on the future of space exploration created by Wernher von Braun and a team of experts for the popular magazine\, Collier’s. Its elaborate vision of a lunar expedition and lunar base—illustrated by Bonestell—has been widely credited with spurring the development of America’s fledgling space program. Bonestell’s contribution to immensely popular movies such as Destination Moon (1950) and the effect they had on the public perception of space travel cannot be discounted\, either. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBonestell was also almost single-handedly responsible for the popular impression of the Moon as being dominated by craggy\, Alpine-like peaks. While proven mistaken by the astronauts of the Apollo program\, there is a viable argument to made that Bonestell knew exactly what he was doing and had it not been for his dramatic renderings of the lunar landscape public enthusiasm and support for the exploration of the Moon would have been far less. \n\n\n\nBonestell’s artwork was ubiquitous throughout the 1940s and 1950s. It not only appeared everywhere\, from books and magazines to television and movies\, it influenced hundreds of other illustrators who spread the Bonestellian vision of the Moon and future spaceflight. His work even had a profound effect on the depiction of the Moon in Stanley Kubrick’s futuristic epic\, 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). \n\n\n\n“Theophilus” (1944) by Chesley Bonestell\n\n\n\nThe award-winning film\, Chesley Bonestell: A Brush With the Future\, is the first-ever documentary about the “Father of Space Art.” It includes interviews with those who knew Mr. Bonestell or were influenced by his art. Featured in this film is rare commentary by author Ray Bradbury and Douglas Trumbull  (photographic effects supervisor for 2001\, A Space Odyssey) who explain how this extraordinary artist popularized the idea of traveling to the Moon\, exploring and colonizing it. Bonestell\, through his art\, helped lay the groundwork for not only our modern space program but for both public and official support and interest in exploring the Moon. Now\, with the Artemis program poised to return humanity to the Moon\, we can be grateful for the inspiration of a gentle artist whose extraordinary vision took us there decades ago. \n\n\n\nFor more information about Chesley Bonestell and this first-ever documentary on the “Father of Space Art” please visit the film’s website: \n\n\n\nwww.chesleybonestell.com \n\n\n\nBonestell paintings courtesy Bonestell LLC.   “A Lunar Landscape” courtesy Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

SUMMARY:[New Zealand] Surviving Lunar Night
DESCRIPTION:July 20\, In person\n\n\n\nNew Zealand Workshop for International Moon Day (invite only) Christchurch\, New Zealand\, 20 July 2022  \n\n\n\nSpaceBase Limited is sponsoring a small\, invitation only\, technical engineering workshop in Christchurch\, New Zealand. We will be working to identify technology developed in New Zealand which could be used to solve problems in lunar surface operations. In particular\, we have identified a potential convergence of technical capabilities to address the need for power during the lunar night.  \n\n\n\nThis will not be a public event\, as we are encouraging the companies involved to share technical information which may be proprietary. The small team will sketch out the technical details of potential solutions and identify near term and long range opportunities. Our goal is to catalyze specific projects from this workshop which can later be communicated to a public audience. The invited companies are from New Zealand\, Australia\, and the United States.  \n\n\n\nWe seek to catalyze and develop new entrepreneurial lunar projects and technical solutions through collaborations to create opportunities within New Zealand\, Australia\, and international partners.  \n\n\n\n– Eric Dahlstrom\, SpaceBase Limited MVA New Zealand National Coordinator eric.dahlstrom@moonvillageassociation.org
