SUMMARY:Thesis Lecture: The Utilization of Lunar Natural Resources by Countries
DESCRIPTION:In Celebration of International Moon Day \n\n\n\nApproved by the Moon Village Association\, in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) \n\n\n\nPresents \n\n\n\nThesis Lecture: The Utilization of Lunar Natural Resources by Countries \n\n\n\nSpeaker: Farah Diya Yasmine (Founder\, Farah Law School)Moderator: Nashide Pelin Kurtaran (Student\, Northumbria University – (LLM) Space Law)Schedule: July 17\, 2023 (7.30pm–8.30pm GMT+7)Platform: Zoom Meeting (link will be provided through the WhatsApp Group)Note: \n\n\n\nLimited Seat!  \n\n\n\nFree registration through the Sejuta Cita Application (for Indonesian applicants) and/or Google Form (for overseas applicants) \n\n\n\nhttps://bit.ly/farahlawschool1 \n\n\n\nInformation: \n\n\n\nInstagram: @farahlawschool \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGmail: farahlawschool2023@gmail.com \n\n\n\n#farahlawschool #internationalmoonday #IMD2023 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch on Youtube\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThesis Lecture: “The Utilization of Lunar Natural Resources by Countries” is a virtual class that will feature a presentation of a thesis written by Farah Diya Yasmine\, S.H.\, who will be the keynote speaker for the event. The lecture is organized by Farah Law School\, a newly established educational platform specializing in Space Law\, Cyber Law\, and Constitutional Law. This virtual event\, conducted in English\, will be accessible to law students and space enthusiasts worldwide\, with a particular focus on Indonesia. It is scheduled to take place on July 17\, 2023. The lecture will delve into the normative issues surrounding the common heritage of mankind principle\, as outlined in Article 11 of the 1979 Moon Agreement\, specifically addressing the utilization of lunar natural resources by countries. \n\n\n\nSpeaker:Farah Diya Yasmine is a law graduate from Universitas Trunojoyo Madura\, Indonesia. She took an International Law concentration and wrote a thesis on the Utilization of Lunar Natural Resources by Countries. Farah is the founder of Farah Law School\, and one of the subjects is space law. Currently\, she is a National Point of Contract for Indonesia and an HR Recruitment Team member at the Space Generation Advisory Council. She is an ambassador at the Mars Society and a selected prospective member at the International Institute of Space Law. \n\n\n\nAbstract \n\n\n\nThe use of natural resources expanded into outer space. The progress of space activities has led to initiatives by countries through the United Nations to adopt various international instruments\, including the 1979 Moon Agreement. Article 11 of the 1979 Moon Agreement regulates the utilization of lunar natural resources exclusively based on the Common Heritage of Mankind principle. However\, it creates multiple interpretations. This study aims to analyze the basis of the obscurity of Article 11 of the 1979 Moon Agreement and the renewal provisions for natural resources on the moon. This research applied a normative legal method. Besides\, it used a statutory approach and conceptual approaches. The data is obtained qualitatively. As a result\, Article 11 of the 1979 Moon Agreement contains two conflicting concepts. The norms are blurry\, considering not all countries are parties to the agreement. The article only regulates state parties\, contrary to the CHM principle that supports countries. Only a few countries carry out activities on the moon. Thus\, some provisions in Article 11 of the 1979 Moon Agreement refer to res nullius rather than res communis humanitatis. There are several proposals for renewing provisions for the utilization of the moon’s natural resources. The CHM and other terms in the agreement should be defined to avoid dissenting countries’ opinions. \n\n\n\nReport\n\n\n\nFarah-Law-School_Post-Event-Report-1Download

SUMMARY:When the Moon was White - The author reads from his novel
DESCRIPTION:July 18\, 17:00 BST\n\n\n\nThe Author\, Jeff Probst\, will read from his novel and answer people’s questions about it \n\n\n\nWhen the Moon was White is set in the Sixties – the decade of the US–Soviet Space Race – in a fictional American town known for its bright moon. NASA designates the town as the world’s first Moontown so its moon can be celebrated\, but two rogue NASA employees concoct a shocking plot: They plan to use Surveyor 4 (the NASA moon rocket scheduled to launch in July 1967) to cover Mare Imbrium in paint before man lands on the Moon. The book also touches on the Moon’s geology and the issues involved with the extraction of helium-3; but the Moon’s beauty – and the songs and poetry associated with it – is what inspired me to write my novel.   \n\n\n\nBook’s website  https://www.jeffprobst.co.uk/ \n\n\n\nJoin on Zoom to participate\n\n\n\n\nZoom Link\n\n\n\n\nWatch on Youtube

SUMMARY:United Moon Forum - India
DESCRIPTION:Humans are already multi-continental\, now it’s time to expand our boundaries to other celestial bodies. After all\, we are born to explore! Additionally\, for benefits from collaborative and peaceful exploration and sustainability reasons\, we must expand beyond Earth. Moon is going to be our 1st bold step in this endless venture. \n\n\n\nInternational Moon Day i.e. 20 July marks the anniversary of the 1st Human landing on the lunar surface as a part of the Apollo 11 lunar mission back in the year 1969. This year we celebrate its 54th Anniversary as a part of the 2nd International Moon Day proposed by the Moon Village Association and officially approved by the UN General Assembly on 9th December 2021. The Human landing on the Moon has\, is\, and will continue to inspire generations to expand beyond our conventional boundaries. \n\n\n\nToday around half a century after the 1st moon landing\, many Space stakeholders (public and private alike) can send missions to the moon. To celebrate our New Lunar Journey\, LIFE-To & Beyond and SpaceCrew\, InnovaSpace jointly is organizing the “United Moon Forum” to celebrate the occasion on the 20th of July 2023 (Timing: 13:30- 15:45 GMT or 19:00- 21:15 IST).  \n\n\n\nThe purpose of the outreach event is to give a glance at the Past\, Present\, and Future of Lunar exploration. This will help spread the word amongst the people about the activities in the space sector about Lunar exploration globally. Alongside\, it will be instrumental in fostering discussion regarding the collaborative and peaceful exploration of our Moon as a common heritage of all of Humankind. \n\n\n\nThe event format includes a Series of lightning talks\, and a panel discussion hosted Online (on the Microsoft Teams Platform and also stream LIVE on the Life To and Beyond Youtube Channel) and Open to global participation. It’s a short yet significant step towards proactive and impactful outreach. We are optimistic about ‘inspiring the new generation to take up the baton of Human exploration from Earth to the Moon\, Mars\, and Beyond!’ \n\n\n\nFor more: https://www.lifetoandbeyond.org/united-moon-forum \n\n\n\nUnited_Moon_Forum_Brochure-1_compressedDownload
