The 3 days event started on Tue Jul 23 2024 10:00:00 GMT+0200 (Ora legale dell’Europa centrale). \n\n\n\nRecordings coming soon!\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nOrganizers and Participant affiliations\n\n\n\n\nMoon Village Association\n\n\n\nCenter for Near Space – Italian Institute for the Future (MVA Istitutional Partner)\n\n\n\nIstituto Marangoni – Dubai Site\n\n\n\nIstituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (infn.it) – Roma Sapienza Division\n\n\n\nMarco Peroni Ingegneria\n\n\n\n“Rocket Girls” – Programa Internacional \n\n\n\nSakasawa International Center for Space Architecture SICSA (uh.edu)\n\n\n\nSpace Renaissance – Space Renaissance – Civilian Space Development\n\n\n\nUCB – Universidad Católica Boliviana San Pablo\n\n\n\nUniversidad de Ciencias y Humanidades | (uch.edu.pe)\n\n\n\nUniversidad Nacional de Moquegua – UNAM MOQUEGU\n\n\n\n\nSessions\n\n\n\nDay 1 – 23 July\n\n\n\nD1.1 “Towards the Moon Village Generation” ( MVA \, Polispace\, Euravia\, …) \n\n\n\nD1.2 “Our Future Life in the Cislunar City” (CNS of IIF – MVA Istitutional Partner) \n\n\n\nD1.3 “Interactive Challenges in Space Architecture” (SICSA) \n\n\n\nDay 2 – 24 July\n\n\n\nD2.1 “Living in Extreme Environments” (Istituto Marangoni ) \n\n\n\nD2.2 “Cultural aspects of the return to the Moon” ( MVA CCWG) \n\n\n\nD2.3 “Educational Experiences and use of Spatial Technologies in Bolivia and Peru’ ” (UCB \, Rocket Girls\, UCH \, UNAM) \n\n\n\nDay 3 – 25 July\n\n\n\nD3.1 “Destination Moon and then …Mars!” (MVA\, Marco Peroni Engineering \, NASA JSC) \n\n\n\nJoin us in celebrating International Moon Day 2024 and shaping the future of space exploration! \n\n\n\nIntroduction\n\n\n\nThe Moon Village Association (MVA) Italian associates and some MVA istitutional Partners ( Center for Near Space of Italian Institute for the Future (CNS/IIF)\, Newroboticarm srl\, See Lab SDA Bocconi ) orchestrated a remarkable Space Summer School in Italy to commemorate International Moon Day 2023 (See IAC Paper). Building upon the success of this inaugural event\, we propose the second edition of the Italian MVA Space Summer School\, scheduled for July 2024\, coinciding with the celebration of International Moon Day 2024. \n\n\n\nContinuation of Organizing Committee and Expansion\n\n\n\nThis edition will be characterized by the same organizing committee. However\, in a bid to enhance accessibility and participation\, we plan to expand the in-person component of the school to other Italian cities such as Turin\, Milan\, Naples\, and beyond. This expansion aims to engage a broader audience and foster greater collaboration across regions. \n\n\n\nObjective and Background\n\n\n\nThe primary objective of the MVA Space Summer School is to foster collaboration among stakeholders including governments\, industry\, academia\, and the public interested in lunar exploration. As an annual event coinciding with International Moon Day\, the school serves as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable Moon exploration and utilization. \n\n\n\nHighlights from the First Edition\n\n\n\nThe inaugural Italian MVA Space Summer School witnessed significant engagement\, with over 70 participants from diverse backgrounds. A hybrid format allowed for both in-person and virtual participation\, showcasing the event’s accessibility and global reach. Participants represented over 10 different countries across Europe\, Asia\, America\, and Africa\, illustrating the international character of the school. \n\n\n\nMore info on Italian MVA Space Summer School \n\n\n\nExpansion and Inclusivity\n\n\n\nExpanding the in-person component to additional Italian cities aims to further enhance inclusivity and accessibility. By offering multiple locations\, we aim to accommodate participants from various regions and backgrounds\, fostering a more diverse and vibrant learning environment. \n\n\n\nInterdisciplinary Approach\n\n\n\nThe MVA Space Summer School embodies a high level of interdisciplinarity\, covering a wide range of subjects relevant to space exploration. From economics and governance to science and technology\, the program provides participants with a holistic understanding of the challenges and opportunities in space exploration. \n\n\n\nIn conclusion\, the second edition of the Italian MVA Space Summer School in July 2024 promises to build upon the success of its predecessor. By expanding the in-person component to additional Italian cities\, maintaining a high level of interdisciplinarity\, and incorporating feedback from participants\, we aim to create a dynamic and inclusive learning experience that fosters collaboration and innovation in lunar exploration.

SUMMARY:Frontier Business Consortium Symposium 2025
DESCRIPTION:Space development toward the moon\, Cis-Lunar\, and Mars is becoming increasingly active both domestically and internationally as a “future” market that is expected to develop in the medium to long term. In response to this situation\, Mitsubishi Research Institute\, Inc. and ispace\, Inc. launched the “Frontier Business Consortium” at the end of 2016 with the aim of playing a leading role without lagging behind the global trend. Currently\, about 50 companies from various industries\, from large companies to startups\, are participating. \nAs many companies\, including the member companies of this consortium\, reach the moon one after another\, it is becoming important to consider what to do after reaching the moon’s surface. We will hold a public symposium to inform a wide range of people\, including those involved in private companies\, governments\, and research institutions\, about the results of the Frontier Business Consortium’s activities to date and its future vision. \nWebsite: https://www.mri.co.jp/seminar/20250718.html

SUMMARY:Mezinárodní den Měsíce 2025 – Měsíc jako symbol poznání a velkých výzev
\n——————————- \nENGLISH\nInternational Moon Day (approved by the UN) is an annual event held for the general public and celebrated around July 20. This day marks the anniversary of the first human landing on the Moon\, which was carried out in 1969 by the crew of the American space mission Apollo 11. This day is also a celebration of humanity’s unceasing fascination with the Moon – our closest celestial neighbor and a symbol of discovery. The Moon has always aroused curiosity and ambition\, from ancient myths to the Apollo landings and future lunar missions. With the Brno Observatory and Planetarium\, you can be there again! \nLectures and subsequent panel discussion in the large planetarium hall (189 seats): \nMgr. Pavel GabzdylBrno Observatory and PlanetariumObservatories without the Moon \nToday’s astronomers often avoid the Moon – it interferes with observations and does not fit into their research plans. Yet it was the Moon that shaped our understanding of the universe for centuries. From the first attempts to measure distances in space\, through the confirmation of Einstein’s theory of relativity\, to the hopes associated with future research. The lecture will offer a look at the role of the Moon in the history of astronomy and research into the Solar System. \nIng. Tomáš Přibylpopularizer of space explorationA new small step \nFive out of six inhabitants of this planet were born after 1969 and did not experience the legendary conquest of the Moon by Apollo 11. But now they have the chance to witness a repetition of this historical event\, because the return of man to our natural satellite will take place later this decade. But will it be under the sign of the American or Chinese flag? What is the “flight schedule” of manned flights to the Moon\, what will the technology for their implementation look like\, who is involved in the preparation of the “new small step”? Many questions\, many – often surprising – answers. \nMgr. Petr Brož\, Ph.D.Institute of Geophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech RepublicThe Moon through the Eyes of a Geologist \nWhat do we know about the origin and evolution of the Moon? And how do we know it? What did the samples brought back by the Apollo astronauts and some probes reveal to us? Why are the near and far sides of the Moon so different? Is the Moon a geologically dead body today\, or is something still happening there? And what other questions in lunar research still remain unanswered and how can we find answers to them? We will look at this together as part of a talk dedicated to the geology of the Moon! \nAnd be careful\, at the end of International Moon Day 2025\, we will screen a fulldome projection called Up to the Moon! (in Czech\, duration 26 minutes).

SUMMARY:Adapting Lunar and Martian Soil for Plant Growth
DESCRIPTION:Transforming lunar and Martian soil for agriculture is essential for sustainable space exploration. Lunar regolith lacks organic matter and nitrogen\, while Martian soil contains toxic perchlorates. Key strategies include enriching soils with fertilizers\, removing toxins (e.g.\, washing perchlorates)\, and introducing microbes to enhance nutrient cycling. Hydroponics and genetic engineering may supplement traditional methods. Experiments with simulants show promise\, but challenges like low gravity\, radiation\, and soil structure remain. Overcoming these barriers could enable future colonies to grow crops\, reducing reliance on Earth. Research continues to optimize plant growth in extraterrestrial environments. To this end\, Sichuan University will organize in-person talks on this topic.
